Radiation properties of snow in high mountains are greatly influenced by the distinct
change in altitude,slope and aspect.Atmosphere correct and terrain normalization must be
applied to high spatial resolution images such as TM to obtain normalized images.By de-
veloping a simple atmosphere correct and solar irradiance simulation model,and under the
supporting of high resolution digital elevation model and the measured weather condition
of the test area,the spectral reflectance factor of the image is calculated.The procedure is
tested in a case study in Tianshan mountain using TM scene of Sep.3,1989.The result
shows it is important to quantitative remote sensing of snow.Meanwhile,the limitations of
this method are also discussed in this paper.
It is the increased use of spatial data in remotely sensed images that we can get the valuable extraction.The approach to link the nature and causes of spatial variation in images is to use the variograms.The data results from the airborne imaging spectrometer over the sea prove that the variograms are the tool used to link models of sea surface scenes such as cloud,the cloud shadows and the normal sea surface.Some directions vario grams indicate the irridance anisotropy,the height of the sills of the variograms are related to the kinds of the remotely sensed objects and the range of the influence is related to the acting distance in pixels of the sea objects.Therefore,the variograms can be used in unsupervised pattern in area by the airborne or spaceborne sensed images.
Land suitability evaluation is an important field where GIS are applied.This paper firstly introduces the conventional LSEM,which has the following disadvantages: one is that no difference is identified in the different thematic classes with the same score,the other is that the difference between different thematic classes is exaggerated around the division of scores.Then,it presents the second model which makes improvement on the conventional one by borrowing the idea of certainty factor from expert system.It is shown that the model after improvement encompasses more enriched and precise information than the conventional one,thereby providing more options for decision maker.
A method of fusing remotely sensed multispectral images with aerophotograph digitized image respectively is discussed in this paper.The images produced through the improved method contain the high spatial resolution information of aerophotograph digitized image while maintaining the basic spectral contents of original multispectral images.So their capabilities both in interpretation and in measurement are improved.
This paper discribes a practical semi-automatic mosaicking method of digital image.This method is simple and effective. At first, it registrates neighbouring images in geometric with several initial control points by a correlation searching approach. The registration accuracy in about up to 1 pixel. Secondly, it uses a 2-dimentional seam point
searching approach to find the best“seam”point and than eliminate them. In application,this method could improve the performance of processing system by saving much mosaicking time with semi-automatic processing.
Flooding and waterlogging disaster condition of Poyang Lake area and its cause are
analyzed in this paper.Authors think that the terrain factor is one of the major causes to
make the waterlogging.The paper briefly introduces the application of the airborne syn-
thetic aperture radar(SAR) to the survey of flooding and waterlogging situation during the
flood season of 1995 in Poyang Lake area ,and make a superficial visual interpretation of
the SAR images.
In view of geographic information sharing,geographic information standardization,a discussion on the issue of GIS representation of geographic information has been made in this paper.The standard concepts of geographic object,geographic entity and geographic phenomenon have been defined.It is concluded that the geographic phenomena are defined by the geographic entities as well as the relationships between them in a GIS. A geograph-
ic entity is defined by some spatial objects which represent the spatial location,the shape and spatial relationships of the entity as well as the attribute data with them.
It is very important to manage and apply efficiently the Dunhuang mural paintings and painted sculpture,as valuable cultural remains of the humankind,using the rapid development computer technique.The information system of computer query and management,as one of part of the information system of Dunhuang mural painting′s computer storage and management,mainly used for querying the basic images content and retative documents.The structures of system,the design of system and the database structure were discussed in this paper.The methods of building the information system of computer query and management,based on the software of Foxpro for Windows,were introduced.The results after running this system showed that the system can adapt the applied requirement,and the system design is reasonable.The system provide a tool for storage,repair,management and
study of Dunhuang mural paintings and painted sculpture.
This paper introduces the major resource satellite and sensor development in 1990′s,
analyses their potential application in remote sensing.The introduction includes ADEOS,
IRS,RADARSAT,EROS etc.After considering the different characteristic of these satel-
lites,sensors and their application fields,the authors suggest that government should sup-
port the data receiving of LANDSAT,RADARSAT and SPOT (or IRS-1C,ADEOS).

The 18th Congress of International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing was held in July,1996 in Vienna,Austria.There were 104 countries and regions which showed their Latest scientific results and developed products.At present,the RS sensors and various applied software are developed thorough going day by day.Under the gradual integraion of the high-tech,such as,the integration of remote sensing (RS),geographical information system (GIS),global positioning system (GPS),digital photogrammetric system (DPS) and expert system (ES),the application fields of RS and GIS are much wider and have enormous potentialities.
