    The investigation of the SAR application became increasingly important with the
    launch of various satellites carried SAR sensors.The geometric distortion of SAR image in
    alpine terrain is more complex caused by the sidelooking imaging technique and by terrain
    undulation,which cannot be rectified using regularly method,such as two dimensional
    polynomials by use of ground control points.In this paper,the correcting method of geo-
    metric distortion in alpine terrain using fly parameters and DEM was introduced ,based on
    the imaging geometry of SAR image.The algorithm of correcting the distortion was pre-
    sented,according to the analysis of the error’s resource of distortion caused by terrain
    height variation.An experiment to test this algorithm was carried out by using the ERS-1
    SAR image in Banff,Canada.The result showed this algorithm produces high precision re-
    sult to correct the geometric distortion in alpine area.

    By processing the datum of field objcets,we could gain the birectional refletctance dis-
    tribution properties of ground subjects.The correction of data processing method can affect
    the truth of field characteristics directly.This paper discussing some preliminary methods
    including data optimizing,normalizing,real-time retrieving,graphic drawing as well as
    comparing and so on .With these approaches we processed and analyzed Donghuang Site
    BRF datum which we measured in september,1996 and verified the processing results.
    Meanwhile,we also emphasize the significance of field object BRF measuring dataprocess-
    ing methods.

    Land desertification is a very serious environmental-economic problem in the North
    China.To carry out remote sensing monitoring is an effective measure for understanding
    the expanded processes,status and trends of desertification.Based on the formation of the
    interpretation indicator system and technological process,we advanced a method of remote
    sensing monitoring on desertification development and practised it in the Mu Us sandy
    Land.The results indicate that to depend on this method we can bring to light the distribu-
    tion of desertified land in time and space and their patterns of evaluation,which will pro-
    vide scientific basis for successfully combating desertification.

    Spaceborne microwave imaging instrument is an important about acquiring information in technology of satellite remote sensing.Its properties affect directly the satellite system.Because testing directly in real system will take very large risk and price,the technology of digital simulation becomes an effective measure.This paper advances a designed idea f digital simulation about spaceborne microwave imaging instrument and simulative oals.It introduces in detail the realized method of digital simulation and simulative model raph.And the desired results of the digital simulative research are described.

    Chirp signal technique is one of the key techniques for measuring sea surface altitude.Using altimeter aboard satellite to determine the altitude of sea level have been adopted at abroad.In the late 1980s,we had begun with learning technical skills through trail and error.Up to 1990 we had carried on a airflight by altimeters aboard a plan and achieved datao f sea level and wave altitude with wave altitude resolution in 0.75m.This technique experiment is newly establish in China.

    Fractal geometry-based image texture classification is the basic tool using fractal dimension of image texture as the primary classification methods. The different fractal dimension of image belongs to the different type of texture. Three algorithm and mathematical models were introduced. The application showed that better results can be obtained by he integrated use of the above-mentioned three methods.

    Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (INSAR) has been the focus of SAR remote sensing for earth observation,and its application fields are explored fastly.In this paper,the general priciples of INSAR are firstly introduced.Its applications in geosciences are then summarized with examples.The future satellite INSAR systems are discussed.The recommendations for Chinese INSAR development and applications are put forword finally.

    In this paper,a comprehensive review of MODTRAN model of the newest PCModWin
    code is provided,including an introduction to its basic structure,the methods for input and
    output and a few application cases. The results show that this model can be widely used in
    studying the radiative transfer process,especially in radiative effects of the absorbence,the
    correction of atmospheric effects in satellite observation and the quantitative applications
    of satellite remote sensing.

    21st century is the century of ocean.There is an intense popular interest in exploiting
    oceanic resources,especially in offshore oil and gas resources which has profound signifi-
    cance to economic development.The advanced remote sensing techniques of detecting off-
    shore oil and gas resources,Which have been used in foreign countries,and the geological
    synthetic methods of analyses have been discussed in this paper.The basic characteristics
    of oil and gas reserves and the feasibility of using remote sensing technique to exploit off-
    shore oil and gas fields have been concluded,and the authors point out that it is an impor-
    tant application for remote sensing technique to be used in offshore oil and gas explo-
    ration.
