Two calibration methods of microwave radiometer were introduced in this paper, one is step calibration, and another is integrated calibration. The precision of step calibration is low because more middle parameters need to be measured during calibration. The precision of integrated calibration is high because there is no middle process and it is finished in one time. The shortcoming of integrated calibration is that it needs one accurate and stable noise source for the antenna. So the cost of integrated calibration is high. The integrated and step calibration for 5 4GHz and 37GHz microwave radiometers have been done under current experimental condition in our laboratory. The results of using two calibration methods were compared.

In this paper,procedure of the absolute calibration for ground based scatterometer is presented.Effects of the far field criterion for the calibration is analyzed.The concept of effective radar cross section(ERCS)is introduced to unify the calibration formula for near field region and far field region measurement.A practical calibration method is proposed.Some calibration results show the validity of the given method.
